Getting curious about the ocean at Sydney Zoo

OceanEarth Foundation at SydneyZoo, Science Week 2026

Last month, the OceanEarth team joined Sydney Zoo for National Science Week, spending the day with young visitors exploring the connections between our ocean, marine life and our everyday lives.

Through hands-on activities drawing on our GhostNets Australia and Ocean Youth programs, young visitors explored how marine animals can become entangled in lost fishing gear, learnt about the impacts of ghost nets, and discovered why a healthy ocean matters to all of us.

It was fantastic to see so much curiosity in action — questions being asked, ideas being shared and young people discovering some of the ways they can be part of positive change for our ocean.

A big thank you to Sydney Zoo and everyone who stopped by the OceanEarth stand, got involved and got curious with us!
